How long have you been in business?
Howard M. Cohn and Associates has been in business for 19 years.
What is your primary product or service?
Our primary service is the preparation and prosecution of Patent and Trademark applications both in the U.S. and throught out the world. We also prepare and prosecute Copyright applications. We prepare and negotiate license agreements for technology transfer.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I became intersted in Patent Law while studying engineering at the University of Maryland. Upon graduating, I worked fulltime as a Patent Examiner in the United States Patent Office and attended night law school at the American University in Washington, D.C. Later, I was a Patent Council at General Signal Corp and then with Olin Corp. Subsequently, I paracticed as an Associate in several law firms until I opened my practice in 1990.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
Howard M. Cohn and Associates is a small boutique, intellectual property law firm. Because of our size, Howard Cohn personally handles or supervises all of the work coming out of our Office. In addition, we work on a fixed price basis for each type of work we do. Because of our size, our overhead is lower and we can offer lower prices of our workproduct.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one office in Beachwood Ohio. For the present, we don't have plans to expand.
